Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment at Willowstone Psychological Services is designed to provide clear, accurate diagnostic understanding, a detailed picture of your strengths and vulnerabilities, and practical recommendations to guide effective treatment. These evaluations go far beyond a standard intake appointment. Using a tailored combination of interviews, standardized measures, and evidence-based assessment tools, I work to clarify what best explains your symptoms and functioning—and just as importantly, what does not. The goal is to help you make sense of your experience, reduce uncertainty, and establish a clear direction for next steps in care.
All assessments are conducted virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform and remote testing tools. This approach allows you to participate from your own space while receiving a comprehensive, clinically rigorous evaluation.
Who They Are For
These assessments are ideal for adults who:
-
Are uncertain about the correct diagnosis of their symptoms
-
Have tried treatment but feel it has not been effective or well-targeted
-
Want a detailed understanding of their cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal strengths alongside areas of challenge
-
Need formal diagnostic clarification to guide treatment decisions (for example, distinguishing between mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and psychotic spectrum disorders)
-
Prefer the flexibility and convenience of a fully remote evaluation rather than coming into an office
Types of Concerns Addressed
My assessment services especially focus on differential diagnosis and clarification of the following areas:
-
Mood disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, bipolar I/II, cyclothymic disorder)
-
Anxiety disorders and trauma-related disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder)
-
Psychotic spectrum disorders (e.g., first-episode psychosis, schizoaffective disorders, schizophrenia)
-
Personality disorders & personality features (e.g., borderline, narcissistic, avoidant, dependent, obsessive–compulsive personality styles)
-
ADHD and executive‐functioning issues in adulthood
-
Other complex or mixed presentations, when there is a combination or ambiguity of symptoms (e.g., mood + trauma + personality features)
Getting Started
The process begins with a brief 15-minute phone consultation where you can share what brings you in and ask any initial questions. If it feels like a good fit, we schedule the first interview, which helps me understand your history, concerns, and goals for the assessment. Testing sessions are then planned based on your availability and the specific questions we’re working to answer. After all interviews and measures are completed, I spend about two to four weeks integrating the information and preparing a clear, detailed report. Once the report is ready, we meet for a feedback session to review the results together. You’ll receive the written report to keep and use however you find most helpful - whether that’s for guiding future therapy, discussing with a prescriber, or simply gaining a clearer understanding of yourself.
